The internet is flooded with people claiming you can make money watching YouTube videos. Not just in the US. Anywhere in the world! But is this a legit claim? Today, I'm checking a website called Shrinkme.io to see if it actually pays you for watching YouTube videos.
I have recently been bombarded with tons of YouTube videos and ads promoting websites that allegedly pay you for watching YouTube videos. It's literally everywhere. If what these entrepreneurship gurus say is true and this opportunity is available worldwide, it would be a game changer for many people. Or it could be nothing more than a scam.
To find out, I decided to try this new moneymaking method myself and see if it is legit. If you are curious whether you can really make money watching YouTube videos worldwide or not, keep reading to find out the results of this experiment.
Start The Journey to Making Money Online
To begin, I first watched many videos that guide you through the process of making money by watching YouTube videos worldwide. Following their directions, I first had to find a video that was doing well on YouTube. For this test, I chose a MrBeast video titled "I Built 100 Wells In Africa."
However, I quickly realized that the whole idea of making money by watching videos was a lie. Instead, the key was to share the video and get other people to watch it. Only then would I get paid for the views. It was far from the passive income opportunity I had hoped for.
Let's Pass The Glance Test
To attract viewers, I needed an eye-catching thumbnail for the video. Unfortunately, YouTube doesn't allow direct downloads of thumbnails, so I had to use a free third-party tool called "youtube-thumbnail-grabber.com" to get the job done. I downloaded the highest-resolution picture and then used another free tool called Canva to edit the thumbnail and make it more appealing.
In Canva, I created a custom-sized canvas with dimensions of 1080 width and 1920 height. I pasted the thumbnail onto the canvas and enlarged it to fit perfectly. Then, I added box shapes above and below the thumbnail to cover the blank spaces. I also added flashy text to grab people's attention, such as "Mr Beast Just built 100 wells in Africa" at the top and "viral Video" at the bottom. Finally, I searched for play buttons in the Elements section and added one to the thumbnail. After finishing the design, I downloaded the picture.
Next, I went to Pinterest to set everything up. I created a free account and navigated to "Create Pin." I pasted the thumbnail image and added a title and a short description to entice viewers to watch the video. The final step was to create a special link to the video for making money.
Shrinkme.io provides the magical link that can be shortened version of the YouTube video's URL. I then pasted the shortened link into the Destination Link section on Pinterest.
Time to make some money!
With everything set up, I waited for three days to see the results. Unfortunately, I didn't make any money from this method. When I checked my Shrinkme.io dashboard, there was no revenue generated. It seemed that despite the video performing well on YouTube, no one saw it through the shortened link.
Upon clicking on the shortened link myself, I discovered that it led to a wall of ads. Some of these ads even prompted me to download potentially harmful content. It was nearly impossible to find the actual video amidst this maze of ads. If I, as the creator, had trouble finding it, it's likely that viewers would quickly give up and close the page.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the claim that you can make money by watching YouTube videos is not legitimate. The method I tried, using Shrinkme.io to share videos and earn revenue, turned out to be a complete waste of time.
Despite the video I shared performing well on YouTube, no one saw it through the shortened link. Instead, the link led to a wall of ads, making it nearly impossible to find the actual video.

In the case of Shrinkme.io, it has been reported as a scam by sources such as MalwareTips. It's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to online money-making opportunities.
So, if you're looking to make money online, it's important to be realistic and skeptical of claims that seem too good to be true. Instead, focus on building a sustainable online business or exploring legitimate ways to earn income through freelancing, affiliate marketing, or other proven methods.
